Saffron Picking The flowering process begins 4-6 weeks after planting the bulbs. The harvesting process is accurate, but it is not difficult after training. Flowers are harvested early in the morning and before daylight hours to avoid wilting. The flowers are picked from the base and placed in baskets in a non-stacked manner. In the next stage, only the red hairs are removed from each flower. After collecting the hairs, we move on to the drying process, using the traditional method, by placing the hairs in a bowl in a non-crowded manner in the shade, away from direct sunlight. After completing the drying process, the dried saffron strands are collected and placed in a tightly closed container, away from light and moisture.
